Ivan Laptev

is INRIA research director affiliated with INRIA Paris - Rocquencourt, a unit of the French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control. Ivan works in the WILLOW research group associated with école Normale Supérieure and led by Jean Ponce. He has obtained PhD degree from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in 2004 where he was at the Computer Vision and Active Perception laboratory (CVAP). His main research interests include visual recognition of human actions, objects and interactions. He has published over 50 papers at international conferences and journals of computer vision and machine learning. He serves as an associate editor of International Journal of Computer Vision and Image and Vision Computing Journal, he was/is an area chair for CVPR 2010, ICCV 2011, ECCV 2012, CVPR 2013 and ECCV 2014, he has co-organized several workshops and tutorials on human action recognition at major computer vision conferences. He has also co-organized a series of INRIA summer schools on computer vision and machine learning (2010-2013). Ivan was awarded ERC Starting Grant in 2012.

Wang Gang

is an Associate Professor with the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He is an associate director of the ROSE lab, which is jointly established by Nanyang Technological University and Peking University, China. He had a joint appointment at the Advanced Digital Science Center (operated by UIUC) as a research scientist from 2010 to 2014. He received his B.Eng. degree from Harbin Institute of Technology in Electrical Engineering and the PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research interests include deep learning, scene parsing, object recognition, and action analysis. He is selected as a MIT Technology Review innovator under 35 for Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and Taiwan. He is also a recipient of Harriett & Robert Perry Fellowship, CS/AI award, best paper awards from PREMIA (Pattern Recognition and Machine Intelligence Association) and top 10 percent paper awards from MMSP. He led a team to achieve top 5 in the ImageNet challenge on scene classification in 2015 and 2016 respectively. He is an associate editor of Neurocomputing and has been invited to serve as an associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence (TPAMI). He is an area chair for ICCV 2017.

Juergen Gall

Prof. Dr. Juergen Gall is professor and head of the Computer Vision Group at the University of Bonn since June 2013. After his Ph.D. in computer science from the Saarland University and the Max Planck Institut für Informatik, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Computer Vision Laboratory, ETH Zurich, from 2009 until 2012 and senior research scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Tübingen from 2012 until 2013. He received a grant for an independent Emmy Noether research group from the German Research Foundation (DFG) in 2013, the German Pattern Recognition Award of the German Association for Pattern Recognition (DAGM) in 2014, and an ERC Starting Grant in 2016. He is spokesperson of the DFG funded research unit "Anticipating Human Behavior" at the University of Bonn since 2017.
